"You don't make progress by standing on the sidelines, whimpering and complaining. You make progress by implementing ideas."
— Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm
  • Introduce an amendment for term limits for U.S. Supreme Court judges and Congressional legislators (as existent for the U.S. President)

  • To add vocal and legislative support for a definite southtown commercial airport but located at a less controversial location than Peotone. Willing to study other possibilities, such as the old southworks steel mill site in Southeast Chicago or expansion of Gary's regional airport (in equal partnership with Illinois).

  • Introduce an amendment for the federal government to help state governments also fund post-secondary higher education (including 2 & 4-year colleges/trade schools)

  • To introduce uniform legislation re: salary scales/benefits/union member access on behalf of all public school teachers and educational support staffers, whether at regular or alternative schools/institutions.

  • To recommend statewide mandatory drug and alcohol testing by school nurses as needed for extremely undisciplined and abusive (verbal/physical) students to rule out the possibility of those contributing factors to their frequent disciplinary problems so that state paid treatments can be received.

  • Study ways to set up contact hotlines for failing businesses to reach out to the government for help in ample time to prevent shutdowns.

  • To re-ignite languished state pride by reviving interest among Illinoisans in the regular use of our Official State Song ("Illinois") requiring its performance in all school assemblies and ceremonial civic occasions

  • To revise the Federal student loans programs by banning ongoing interest charges during times of financial hardship such as deferments or forbearances, and to grant unconditional amnesty or discharges to students who become bankrupt (retroactive too) before student loan payoffs

  • To revise national bankruptcy laws by including federal student loans and IRS tax debts in discharged creditor debts (retroactive when passed)

  • To lobby for credit card laws that regulate consumer interest rates and forbid creditors to double bill cardholders' fees for both late charges and overlimits, especially when such late charges caused the overlimit status (retroactive too)

  • To be supportive of needed revisions in the electoral college vs. popular vote formula for presidential elections

  • To introduce legislation requiring removal of fashion labels from the necks of garments (infants to adults) and/or design simple tear-off neck labels to benefit consumers with sensitive skin

  • To be supportive of efforts for uniform, federally regulated voting equipment for entire United States

  • To introduce legislation to decrease/regulate rush hour freight train traffic on main thoroughfares (such as 87th & 95th Sts. in Chicago/Evergreen Park or Dixie Highway in Blue Island) and/or immediate construction of auto traffic overpasses over busiest rail tracks

  • To require construction work deadlines (except for inclement weather) on all streets/highways

  • To enforce accountability of commercial and residential building owners for violations of cited building/safety codes

  • To advocate for stronger penalties against street guns and crime

  • To uphold national capital punishment

  • To modify the 5th Amendment that forbids double jeopardy by establishing a post-Miranda type clause insuring that post-trial confessions of murderers can still be prosecuted since there is no statute of limitations on murder. (Inspired by later confession of Emmet Till's murderers who were never penalized).

  • To extend ban of public indoor smoking laws to include attendants in toll booths, self-serve gas stations, and on-break employees at entrances of public buildings; Require separate rooms or suction ventilation for facilities that merely separate smokers by designated seating in same room.

  • To enforce uniform gender and race-free home inspection/appraisal rules for FHA sellers/buyers

  • To help develop and enforce stronger moral/dress code standards for performers' attire and language on regular television programs and for on-duty employees in public places (no transparent/tight fitting clothing, exposed cleavage, or mini lengths)

  • To restore a uniform morning devotion school prayer preceding the flag pledge within all of America's schools

  • To revise public assistance laws granting unemployment insurance recipients same rights as cash assistance claimants, i.e. to apply for medical benefits if not covered by employer and food stamps

  • To allow unemployment recipients to continue collecting wrap-around wages until at least two pay checks have been actually received from their new job. Instant cutoff after employment creates extreme survival hardships for most.

  • To set up government funded housing for all the unemployed who weren't ruled eligible to receive unemployment insurance (whether married or single, parents or no children) or a cash assistance program whereby the government pays the entire rent and utilities of the existent residence of such persons.

  • To lobby with Missouri legislators to have historic site status granted to now defunct Booker T. Washington school building in Neelyville as a permanent museum/memorial to previous all-Black attendees as well as a highly visible plaque to honor the now vacant site where Hart school once stood.
